JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This senior mechanical engineer will be supporting the HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance plane) and the liquid hydrogen system development. The LH2 (Liquid Hydrogen) system includes both airborne and ground based equipment supporting the HALE air vehicle.
Duties Include:
• Cryogenic component and system level test design, test implementation, procedure generation, component validation, data reduction and report writing
• Cryogenic component and system design, modeling, and creation of manufacturing drawings and P&I diagrams
• Interfacing with vendors to manufacture components, site LH2, and setup LH2 fueling station
• Working with other aircraft sub-system teams to determine interfaces and common requirements
• Clearly identifying safety hazards and implementing risk reduction activities to mitigate identified hazards.
• Developing, refining and implementing LH2 fueling Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for system test and aircraft flight line operations.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
• 5-7 years hands on experience in the design, installation and testing of fluid/gas systems for aerospace applications
• Experience with cryogenic systems or components
• Experience with Word/Excel/Office a must
• Must be a team player and have shown a demonstrated ability to lead small sized technical teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
• Must have familiarity with safety regulations including NFPA, OSHA, etc.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
PREFERRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
• Experience with Solidworks, Pro E or other 3-D modeling software a plus
• Experience with Liquid hydrogen a significant plus
Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants cannot be hired until they are qualified to have such access.
