Many do not know what an independent courthouse researcher is. Don't let the name fool you. The work is a lot more simple than it sounds. Basically, you would travel to your assigned county courthouse and collect infomation from specified court documents. We show you how to do it and even provide a data base to use. A laptop is helpful but not required. You need good typing skills and reliable transportation.
This is not a get rich quick scheme by any means. You will have to work in order to be paid. How much you work will depend on the size of the counties you are assigned. The larger the county the more often you will need to go to the courthouse- and vice versa. Most of these jobs are very occasional- meaning you would go to the courthouse 2-12 times a year. We do have some researchers that take on several counties close by in order to make more $$$. This is highly encouraged. Our typical researcher makes $12-$16/hr on average. This is after training and a few weeks of experience collecting data.
You may set your own hours as long as the info is collected during normal courthouse hours (typically M-F 9-5)
