Sucre à la Crème is really an old-fashioned traditional French Canadian candy that was produced at home in the late 1800’s. It was however most popular from the 1920's throughout the 1950s. But as home candy making started to die out in the 1960s, these types of candies were the first to disappear.
Sucre à la Crème is simply a sinfully pleasurable fudge-like confection that is still common in the French Canadian Culture. Born and raised in Montreal, (Québec, Canada) and still living in the Province of Québec, I first experienced Sucre à la Crème as a child where memories of family reunions and other gatherings where homemade Sucre à la Crème was a must. I remember my Grandmother making this unbelievable ...Sucre à la crème every time that we would visit her. She certainly knew how to ensure that we were obedient!!!!!!
Our recipe dates from the late 1800’s and has been passed down from generation to generation. Made only from the finest, purest ingredients from Québec, our “MAPLE SYRUP SUCRE À LA CRÈME” is sure to please anyone who is willing to try it and venture into the purest, smoothest, melt-in-your-mouth fudge that ever existed. Soft yet firm, It is simply out of this world.
P.S: The first time I made Sucre à la crème from the recipe that was passed down from my Great-Grandmother to my Grandmother (I was 14 Years Old). It was that good then and it is still unbelievably good now.
