How do you feel when you see litter on the sidewalks and on the streets? How do you feel when you see litter along the sides of highways or even in a forest? Is litter so commonplace that you would give no more thought to it than you would give no more thought to a bird sitting on a telephone wire? I was taught when I was growing up not to throw litter around. It showed you had respect for people and for the environment in which you lived. It seems the problem of littering has become worse in the past thirty years. Many people are not raising their children to show respect for people and the environment. Some people want to take a pleasant walk in the park without seeing litter. This is one of the points that this book of poetry brings out. The poems in this book are thought-provoking
examples of environmental respect. This includes respect for the environment worldwide also. Another point this book of poetry brings out is that we should view all living things and the environment as beautiful things. Many people view green grass as commonplace and do not think it as beautiful when they throw litter on it. If we all viewed simple things such as grass as beautiful then perhaps there would be less environmental destruction in some places. Perhaps you will feel the same if you read this book of poetry.
