A massive fire erupted yesterday afternoon at the AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi following an apparent transformer blast, prompting a swift and coordinated emergency response. The incident began at approximately 3:55 pm in the BCP area when a 33 kV transformer exploded inside the Trauma Centre complex. Within minutes, eight fire tenders rushed to the scene, led by Delhi Fire Officer Manoj Ahlawat, who praised his team’s rapid and effective operation under challenging conditions. Fire crews successfully doused the flames by around 30–35 minutes after the blaze began. Their quick work contained the fire to its origin, preventing it from reaching two adjacent transformers and Dodging disaster—especially given the proximity (just 5 m) of the doctors’ hostel. | |
