Thermo Fisher is closing three facilities in the San Diego area in its third round of layoffs in California in recent months. Also, about 218 employees will be negatively impacted. “Thermo Fisher invested heavily in supporting the global response to COVID over the last three years. As COVID moves from pandemic to endemic, we must adjust to meet current market demands. The company decided to discontinue sales and operations from the three facilities and consolidate its footprint because it does not expect customer demand for COVID-19 testing products to return to previous levels.
