DOTMA carries a positive charge on the surface of liposomes which condenses anionic nucleic acids and promotes efficient interactions between the cell membrane and the liposome. DOTMA is used for drug delivery and gene transfection. When used as a component of liposomes, it is used to encapsulate siRNAs, miRNAs and oligonucleotides, etc., to form carrier liposomes (LPX), which are used in anticancer vaccine research.DOTMA has shown good gene transfection effects both in vitro and in vivo.
