Tragedy has struck once again in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as a sudden cloudburst in the Doda district has left four people dead and several others missing. The natural calamity occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, triggering flash floods that devastated more than ten houses in the region. According to local authorities, the cloudburst hit the Thathri area of Doda around 3:00 AM, catching residents off guard as they slept. Torrential rain and gushing waters swept through the area with enormous force, washing away homes, livestock, and personal belongings within minutes. Rescue teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army, and local administration, were immediately dispatched to the site. So far, we have recovered four bodies and are continuing our search and rescue operations,” said a senior district official. “The terrain is difficult, and many areas are still inaccessible due to debris and floodwaters. We fear that the toll may rise.” | |
