Mannose Triflate | |
Mannose trifluorosulfonate is a synthetic carbohydrate precursor used to prepare 2-deoxy-2-18F-β-D-pyranose glucose (18FDG). 18FDG is the most widely used radiotracer in positron emission tomography for studying cellular metabolism. FDG can be naturally taken up by cells like glucose, but cannot participate in metabolic reactions. Due to the characteristically high metabolic rate of cancer cells, the 18FDG radiotracer accumulates in cancer cells.
